Nizamabad: MLAs and MLCs are facing uncertainty as the State government is silent over the release of Assembly Constituency Development Fund (ACDF).

MLAs and MLCs can allocate the ACDF amount for any developmental work in their constituency such as construction of school buildings, installation of CCTV cameras, road works etc. Funds will be released by the district collector.

After the formation of separate Telangana State, the government had increased the amount from Rs 150 lakhs to Rs 3 crores a year as ACDF to each of its MLAs and MLCs. Of this, the district in-charge minister will approve Rs 75 lakhs.

The government didn't release ACDF amount even eight months after the Assembly elections.

The nine MLAs and four MLCs in Nizamabad district are crippled without funds as they cannot take up any development work. Under the Constituency Development Programme (CDP), each MLA and MLC can propose developmental works in their constituencies, with an emphasis on government priorities. MLAs and MLCs can propose developmental works for their total entitlement of Rs 3 crores. These funds will be provided by the State government through the Planning Department. The District Collector will get these works executed by following the procedures and rules of the State government and guidelines issued by the Planning Department from time to time.

Each MLA and MLC shall place emphasis on government priority schemes like drinking water facilities, public health care buildings, sanitation and drainage facilities to public, construction of roads, construction of buildings/facilities belonging to the government or local bodies for educational institutions need for class rooms/laboratories/toilets, common shelters for the old or handicapped, and electrification/street lighting etc. The Collector will take the decision wherever the government's intervention is needed for the above schemes, in consultation with MLA and MLC and issue administrative sanctions/instructions as per the powers delegated to them.
