MLC by-poll goes off peacefully

Vikarabad/Tandur: By-elections for MLC (local bodies) in the district went off peacefully on Friday. The process started at 8 am and completed by 4 pm. As many as 183 votes polled out of 184 in Vikarabad. Police made elaborate arrangements and no untoward incident took place. Congress candidate Kommuri Prathapa Reddy visited RDO office at Vikarabad to witness the polling.

Speaking on the occasion, he said he would win the mandate as voters were disappointed with the ruling party. Zilla Parishad chairperson Sunitha Reddy exercised her franchise. ZPTCs and MPTCs in the district along with municipal councillors in Vikarabad and Tandur apart from GHMC corporators voted in the election.

The voters who were in special camps conducted by both Congress and TRS reached the polling centres directly for voting. Total 89 votes out of 89 in Tandur were polled. DSP Ramachandrudu, CI Ravikumar supervised the security for the smooth conduct of polls. The counting will be held on June 3.
