MLC polls in three LA segments today

Hyderabad: Bye-elections to three Local Authorities Constituencies - Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda and Warangal – are scheduled to be held on Friday.

In all 2,799 electors who include members of ZPTCs, MPTCs, corporators, municipal councillors and ex-officio members are expected to cast vote.

The polling centres will remain open from 8 am to 4 pm. A total of 25 polling centres in the three segments will be opened. The counting of votes will be conducted on June 3.

Former Minister Patnam Mahender Reddy (Ranga Reddy), Tera Chinnapa Reddy (Nalgonda) and Pochampally Srinivas Reddy (Nalgonda) are the TRS candidates, while Congress fielded K Prathap Reddy (Ranga Reddy), Komatireddy Lakshmi (Nalgonda) and E Venkat Ram Reddy (Warangal).

While the fight is between TRS and Congress in Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda constituencies, three independents are also in fray in Warangal constituencies along with TRS and Congress contestants.

Coming to winning chances of candidates, TRS is expected to have brighter chance because most of the voters, who are elected representatives in local bodies, belong to the TRS party.

The Congress can give a fight to TRS in Nalgonda as Komatireddy Lakshmi, the wife of MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, is in the fray from Nalgonda. In Warangal, some of the independents in fray belong to TRS and it has to be seen if they split votes, which might help the rival party.

The TRS, which faced a setback in recent Parliament elections, took the MLC polls prestigious.

Nalgonda constituency has 1,086 voters including 479 male and 607 female. Seven polling centres are established in Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Bhongir, Suryapet, Deverakonda, Kodad and Choutuppal.

Ranga Reddy constituency has 812 votes, including 592 MPTCs, ZPTCs 33, corporators 84, councillors 102, cooption member 1. Eight polling centres have been set up in Vikrabad, Pargi,Tandur,Keesara,Malkajgiri, Rajendranagar, Chevella and Ibrahimpatnam.

In Warangal, there 902 voters including 389 males and 513 females. Ten polling centres have been established in Hanamakonda, Warangal, Narsampet, Parkal, Jangaon, Station Ghanpur, Mahabubabad, Thorrur, Mulug and Bhupalpally.
