Monkey food courts to come up in Telangana
Telangana government to set up monkey food courts across the state as a part of Haritha Haram programme. It may be reminded that monkey menace has been increasing for the past recent years in search of food and the government decided to plant saplings of fruit-bearing plants.
The monkey food courts are being planned to develop in 20 guntas at the outskirts of villages in the erstwhile Warangal district. Besides, the fruit-bearing saplings, monkeys will also have access to water.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has already discussed with the officials on how the monkeys entering into human habitations and pitched the idea to ensure that they have food in the forest. The development of food courts have already begun in the state and will come up in various districts. Around 100 monkey food courts began in Jagtial last year.
The CM on Thursday launched the sixth phase of Haritha Haram by planting a sapling in Narsapur of Medak district. Rao also inaugurated Narsapur Urban Forest Park, which was developed in 636 acres.
