Monsoon likely to hit Telangana on June 20

Medak: The southwest monsoon is likely to set in the state with heavy rainfall, caused by an upper air cyclonic circulation and a low pressure area likely to develop over North Bay, at isolated places on June 20 & 21.

The Met Department bulletin said on Monday that conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of the monsoon into some west parts of Bay of Bengal in the next four to five days.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rains or thunder showers are likely to occur at a few places across Telangana from June 18 to 21. No major change during the period June 22 to 24 is expected in the weather.

The bulletin warned of thunderstorms with gusty winds up to 30 to 40 kmph and lightning lashing isolated places in the state on June 18. Also heat wave conditions are likely to continue at isolated pockets.

Meanwhile, severe heat wave conditions prevailed at isolated pockets in Medak district (day temperature 40.6 degrees Celsius) for the second day, while hot weather was experienced in four Telangana districts, according to the bulletin. While Hakimpet had a high temperature at 37.3 deg C, Dundigal recorded 36. Rains occurred at isolated places across the state, the bulletin said.
