Motors at Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation third lift face technical snag, pumping of water halted
Nagarkurnool: Though heavy inflows in the Yellur reservoir of Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project were being pumped from the first and second lifts, the flood flow at the third lift has been halted on Monday due to technical snag in the motors at Gudipally pumphouse of Nagarkurnool district.
As soon as the Nagarkurnool MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy learnt about the technical snag, he immediately visited the pumphouse and interacted with the engineers concerned and sought explanation as to why there was a technical snag, and directed them to repair the motors immediately and start pumping of water down into the KLI gravity canal. "We have been informed that there is some technical snag in the switching system of the pumphouse because of which the motors at KLI third lift have been temporarily halted. We have directed the officials to repair them immediately and ensure water is released into the canal," said Marri Janardhan Reddy.
However, the officials said that the repairs would take two days and by Wednesday, they would be ready to pump water through the third lift and release water into the KLI canal.
