Karimnagar: BJP Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar wrote a letter to the Durga Shankar Mishra, who is the secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Central Government, demanding a probe into the misuse of funds under Smart City Project.
The MP in his letter to the Secretary complained against the TRS leaders. He alleged that the leaders of the ruling TRS government, including the officials were indulged in corruption and called the tenders illegally under Package-1 and Package-2 for about Rs 164 crores under Smart City Project and crores of rupees have been changed hands in the process of allotment of tenders. Some even acted as dummy contractors and the officials coming under the pressures by the TRS leaders had allotted funds for single tender against the rules, he alleged.
Sanjay Kumar pointed out that a few officials have joined hands with the leaders of the ruling TRS for commissions and indulged in corruption and allotted tenders illegally to dummy contractors without taking up any developmental works.
Stating that the authorities and the ruling party leaders had siphoned off the State exchequer, the MP requested the Central government to issue an order for a detailed inquiry with vigilance authorities and prevent the misuse of public money and ensure that the Smart City project funds were effectively used for the beautification of the Karimnagar town.
