Municipalities: BCs thank KTR for giving lion's share in top posts
Hyderabad: Several BC organisations have thanked Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao for giving representation to BCs and MBCs on a large scale in the municipalities.
The BC organisations under the leadership of Excise Minister B Srinivas Goud met KT Rama Rao on Saturday. The organisations' leaders said that several governments even during the undivided Andhra Pradesh did not consider giving a ward member to the BCs but this time BCs were given many posts and also thanked the Minister for his gesture.
The leaders said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao gave top priority to BC leaders in the election of mayors, deputy mayors, chairpersons and vice chairpersons. They also thanked Chief Minister KCR for keeping his promise of giving top posts to BCs.
The leaders told the Minister that never in the history, the 'safai karmachari' or a Dalit was made Chairperson of a municipality. Government gave 58 chairperson/mayor posts and 45 vice chairperson/deputy mayor posts to BCS.
The leaders also pointed out that under BCs, Gouds got 17, Mudirajs 13, Munnuru Kapus 21, Padmashalis 13, Yadavs 18, Lingayats 6, Kurumas 4 and Arya Kshatriyas 3.
Apart from these, the MBCs which also got posts. The MBCs including Safai Karmachari, Netakani, Budaga Jangam, Kummari Patkari, Perika, Vadla, Padmashali, Allapu, Reddika, Ausali got one post each.
The leaders said that the BCs got more posts than what the court had prescribed.
