Muslim girls keen to pursue agri research
Rajendranagar: Smashing stereotypes that Muslim girls are left far behind their male counterparts in education, the results at PJTSAU shows that with dedication they can achieve whatever they want.
Touching milestone with such steadfastness in all professional streams considered beyond their reach, they are pulling out all the hurdles coming across their way and doing everything possible to achieve their dreams.
After proving themselves as high fliers in the professional fields like Medical, Aeronautical Engineering and Civil Engineering, Muslims girls are now displaying their exceptional piece of acumen and expertise in the field of agricultural research too, against all odds.
These accomplishments surprised the minds when Prof Jayashanker Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Rajendranagar, honoured two Muslim girl students Shenaz Rasheed and Sana Bari with "Gold Medals." While Shenaz Rasheed was honored with "PJTSAU Outstanding Student Gold Medal" for her excellent overall performance in varied activities at undergraduate level, across all faculties of the University, Sana Bari was felicitated with "Sankalp Group Gold Medal" for having secured the highest overall grade point average in BSc (Hons) Home Science.
Both these brilliant girls were felicitated with the "Outstanding Student Gold Medals" for their remarkable performance in the field of Agricultural Science among 16 others who were felicitated during the third convocation held at University Auditorium Hall here on Saturday.
Similarly, Ayesha Sultana Ahmed is another Muslim girl student among other 37 bright students who emerged with flying colors in the recently held exams and was conferred with the degree during the convocation.
Amongst boys, Shaikh Jawed is also among those privileged students who received the degree by the vice chancellor Dr V Praveen Rao. Shaik Moizur Rahman, student of BSc (Agriculture), is the only Muslim boy among others who bagged the "RA/1982 AGRICOS Rajendranagar Gold Medal" for having secured the highest grade point in the subject of Genetics & Plant Breeding amongst all the agricultural Colleges of the University.
Gems from previous year
Last year, the two under graduate Muslim girls, Sayyeda Salima Asra and Hafsa Fatima were honoured with gold medals for their outstanding performance in the field of agriculture at the second convocation. Also Hafsa Fatima was honoured with "Sankalp Group Gold Medal" for having secured the highest overall grade point average in B.Sc (Hons) Home Science of the University.
It is important to mention here that only few students, whose parents are having professional background, are encouraged to take up the challenging courses and accordingly they manage to achieve their best under the blessed supervision of their elders.
