Nagarkurnool MP inspects damaged paddy in Kalwakurthy
Nagarkurnool: Nagarkurnool MP Potuganti Ramulu visited Kalwakurthy mandal on Wednesday and inspected the damaged paddy crop besides trying his hand at harvesting the paddy along with the women workers.
Speaking on the occasion, though the rainy season started late, the rains that came in the later months have helped the farmers take up paddy farming. However, the heavy rains at the end have damaged the standing crops, he said. "This Kharif I am expecting a very good yield of paddy in the State. Particularly, the farmers in Kalwakurthy region have received ample irrigation waters through the Mahatma Gandhi Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation project and vast swamps of land has been sown with paddy. The State government is also taking prompt steps and setting up paddy procurement centres in every mandal headquarters and providing Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the produce," observed the MP.
Later, the MP interacted with the women labourers who had come for harvesting the paddy, and took up a sickle to cut the paddy straw.
