Nagarkurnool: A middle-aged woman has been found killed on the way of Akka Mahadevi Temple deep inside Nallamala forest region of Amrabad mandal in Nagarkurnool district on Sunday. According to Amrabad Sub-Inspector Raman Goud, they found a middle-aged woman, around 50 years, dead and naked with her throat slit open in the Nallamala forest region, on the way to Akka Mahadevi Temple.

"Earlier, we thought the women might have been brought here by some unidentified persons and might have been raped and killed. However, after our detailed investigation we found vermillion and turmeric at the site of the dead body. This makes us to suspect that the woman might have been killed as part of Kshudra Pooja (sorcery) to appease the deity. However, we are investigating the case in all angles," said the Amrabad SI.

Based on the items available and identity cards found in the surrounding area, it is said that the woman is married and a resident of Mumbai. She is identified as Shanta Ravimudiliar (50), based on the identity card and other material available at the spot by the police. However, the police are yet to identify the killers of the woman and have launched the investigation.
