Nalgonda: Fishlings released into Nagarjunasagar waters at Peddamunigal
Neredugommu (Nalgonda): Devarkonda MLA Ramavath Ravindra Kumar stated that the government was committed for the welfare of fishermen. On Tuesday, he released 16 lakh fish seedlings in Nagarjunasagar backwaters at Peddamunigal village of Neredugommu mandal in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the government has been implementing several schemes for the welfare of caste-based professions in villages and as a part of it, the government has been releasing fish seedlings at free of cost in 46,000 reservoirs and ponds in the State for the livelihood of fishermen community.
"Government is providing fishing nets, autos, mopeds and other necessary equipment on subsidy to fishermen for selling their catch," he added.
He announced to establish fish markets at Peddamunigal, Dindi and Devarakonda with an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh in Devarakonda constituency.
"Telangana is the only State which is providing fish seedlings on cent percent subsidy and plans are afoot to establish seed-producing centres for fish farming in the State," he said.
In this programme, MPP Banavath Padmamma, ZPTC Balu Naik, officials of fisheries department Shankar, Rathod and Charitha, MPDO Narasimha Rao, Tahsildar Jaiah, Devarakonda Rythu Samanvaya Samithi convener Shiramdasu Krishnaiah and TRS party local leaders participated.
