Nalgonda: Huge inflows into Sagar elate ayacut farmers
Nagarjunasagar (Nalgonda): Officials of Nagarjunasagar Project (NSP) are releasing 3.59 lakh cusecs of water downstream by lifting 24 gates of the project as the inflows of the project reached 4 lakh cusecs from upstream Srisailam dam. While 10,350 cusecs of water has been released into Sagar right canal, 8,022 cusecs was released to Sagar left canal, 2,400 cusecs to Srisailam left bank canal, 300 cusecs to low-level canal and 32,805 cusecs was released to main pump house.
The present water level in Sagar reservoir is 310.25 tmcft at 589.70 feet against the Full Tank Level of 312 tmcft at 590 feet. Project Superintending engineer Vijayakaran Reddy informed that project gates were opened for the second time in a short span of one month and described it as a rare incident and informed that the inflows might continue for another three days.
Meanwhile, a large number of people thronged Nagarjunasagar to enjoy its beauty. The ayacut farmers under Nagarjunasagar project expressed their pleasure over huge inflows into the reservoir.
