Narketpally (Nalgonda): District In-charge Collector V Chandra Shekar has directed the officials of Cotton Corporation of India to buy the cotton from farmers as per the rules and regulations and not to create any problems to them while buying the produce.

On Thursday, he made a surprise visit to Varalaxmi Ginning Mill located at Chowdavaram village of Narketpaly mandal in the district. The farmers at the mill poured to the In-charge Collector about their plight and informed that management of ginning mill was not buying their cotton citing more moisture and low quality.

The organisers of the mill informed that so far they bought 1,200 quintals of cotton from farmers by paying Minimum Support Price to them.

The In-charge Collector directed the Tahsildars to convene a meeting with farmers, CCI officials, managements of ginning mills and Rythu Samanvaya Samithi members to create awareness among the farmers about the quality and moisture of cotton.

He advised the revenue officials to visit the paddy and cotton procurement centres to instill confidence among farmers and to address their problems from time-to-time. The In-charge Collector was accompanied by Revenue Divisional Officer Jagadishwar Reddy and Tahsildar Radha.
