Nalgonda: New toilet works expedited to make municipalities open-defecation free

Nalgonda: Construction of public toilets is in full swing in all the municipalities of Nalgonda district.

Following the directions of the municipal administration and urban development minister KT Rama Rao that asked for the construction of atleast one toilet for every thousand people by August 15, the construction works of toilets have been accelerated in all the urban local bodies in the district.

In addition to the 223 existing toilets in 7 municipal towns in the district, the Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil issued administrative sanctions for the construction of 146 new public toilets to provide one toilet per thousand people and the works are in progress.

State government took up the urban development as an agenda to make all the Municipalities in the State clean and open defecation-free cities, he added

Government has directed all municipalities to construct large-scale toilets so that people in towns and people from different villages do not face any difficulties for nature calls and added that clean toilets have also been given priority under Swachh Bharat programme launched by the Central government.

Orders have been issued to ensure that 50 per cent of the toilets constructed in each municipal area are allocated to women. The construction of the toilets is in full swing in the municipalities of Nalgonda district, as per chief secretary orders and works are being supervised by the District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil and Additional Collector Rahul Sharma.
