Nalgonda: Woman kills stepdaughters, ends life later

A woman killed her two step-daughters by hanging them to the ceiling and later committed suicide at her house in the outskirts of Nalgonda on Thursday night. The accused, Makala Prasanna Rani is said to have depressed with the second marriage of her husband after he spent most of the time with Shantamma and decided to get rid of her two step-daughters -- Ruchira (5) and Medha Sree (7).

Getting into details, Prasanna Rani was the first wife of Makala Pradeep who works as a computer operator at ICDS in Yaddadi-Bhongir district. He got into a second marriage with Shanthamma about seven years ago and have two daughters. Pradeep also has a son and daughter from first wife Prasanna Rani. As the two women were outsourced employees of ICDS, Prasanna Rani befriended Shantamma and her two daughters for the last four months.

On Thursday, Shantamma sent her two daughters to Rani's house on the latter's invitaion. When the children did not return until late evening, Pradeep went to the house at Prasanna Rani's house and found his two daughters dead. He also noticed Rani dead hanging from the ceiling fan.

Pradeep informed the police who registered a case and launched an investigation. The bodies were sent to autopsy.
