Nalgonda youth enters US Forbes list

Nalgonda: Son of the soil Konam Sandeep brought name and fame to both Nalgonda and Telangana State at international level by putting his name in US Forbes list as one of the 30 trailblazers in healthcare category, for his role in building 'Abridge' to help patients to stay on top of their health.

Speaking to The Hans India, Sandeep's father Konam Srinivas informed that his son Sandeep's name was placed in USA Forbes list as a best entrepreneur under 30 years age group in health category, which was announced on Tuesday.

Srinivas said that his son has co-founded Abridge in USA along with Dr Shiv Rao in February 2018 to help patients capture details of their care so they can become more informed and take steps towards better health outcomes. They use artificial intelligence to securely transcribe and extract key takeaways from any medical conversations that a patient chooses to record. They announced Abridge's official launch and $15 million in funding in October.

Speaking over phone, Sandeep said, "I am incredibly grateful to my co-founder Shiv Rao and Phenomenal team at Abridge for all their support." When asked about how Abridge helped patients during Covid-19, Sandeep said that Covid-19 visitor restrictions have left many people without their usual support systems during medical appointments. Now more than ever, it is vital to help patients and their families stay on the same page. 'We built a telephone-based solution where patients can dial in family members to an appointment and record the conversation. We also provide sharing feature, allowing patients to share their conversations and summaries with family and friends, thereby keeping everyone in the loop,' he explained.

Sandeep is a native of Nalgonda and did B Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and did minor degree in Computer Science from IIIT RGUKT, Idupulapaya. He then did MS in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, USA, where he worked on enhancing the perception capabilities of drones and on multi-robot co-ordination. He also built several health tech applications, aclinical trail matching app to help cancer patients and a mobile app to detect cancer biomarkers using blood samples image analysis, to name a few.

Sandeep is also founder of KONAM foundation started with the mission to devise technology to accelerate the pace of accomplishing sustainable development goals (SDGs).
