Nampally: Wakf panel meetings demanded
Nampally: All India Muslim Minority Organisation (AIMMO) on Thursday questioned the sincerity of State government and TS Wakf Board, as they have failed to conduct bi-monthly meeting of Wakf Protection coordination committee which was formed following a Government Order in 2016.
Speaking to media persons, M A Siddiqui, the former Director of Minority Finance Corporation, demanded that the government fulfil its promise of providing 'judicial powers' to the Wakf Board and resume the coordination meeting of various departments towards protecting Wakf lands.
"On February 19, G O Ms 3 was passed for organising regular meetings of revenue, police and other concerned departments with Wakf. But it proved to be an eyewash, as no meetings were being conducted even as the government does not have any idea of records pertaining to thousands of acres of Wakf lands.
It is a well-known fact that the Telangana government has only records of 40,000 acres of land, while the actual size is 77,000 acres. Where has been the remaining land gone?" he asked.
Syed Muqtar Hussain, organisation's Chairman, Rafia Qayyum, women's wing president and others were present.
