Narayanpet: 104th birth anniversary of Konda Laxman Bapuji celebrated

Narayanpet: The department officials of Backward Class Welfare in Narayanpet district celebrated the 104th birth anniversary of Konda Laxman Bapuji, a noted freedom fighter who also took part in the first phase of Telangana movement from 1952 to 1969.

Taking part in the celebrations, Narayanpet District Revenue Officer garlanded the portrait of Bapuji and said that Bapuji was one of the prominent leaders who participated in the Telangana rebellion and fought for the Statehood of Telangana all through his life.

"Today, we are in the newly carved Telangana State because of sacrifices made by many leaders. Konda Laxman Bapuji was one of the first generation leaders who strived and fought for the separate State of Telangana," he informed.

Bapuji was born in Wankidi village in Komaram Bheem district of erstwhile Adilabad district. Bapuji was inspired by the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and followed his principals. He was also known for waging a fight against the Nizam and the Razakars during the Telangana Armed Struggle in 1947-48.
