Narayanpet distributes 25,000 Bathukamma saris in one day

Narayanpet: The district administration of Narayanpet has launched the distribution of Bathukamma saris on Wednesday and distributed as many as 25,000 saris among women. District Collector S Venkat Rao along with Narayanpet MLA Rajender Reddy took part in the saree distribution programme.  

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector highlighted the significance of Telangana culture and stated that every woman should wear the new saree offered by the government and celebrate the Bathukamma festival on a grand note. "The Bathukamma festival is being celebrated for the first time after Narayanpet is being carved out into a new district. Therefore, the women from all sections must take part in the nine-day festival and make it a grand success," said the Collector.

The MLA said for Narayanpet, the State government has supplied more than 1.90 lakh saris for distribution in all 11 mandals. "This time, we have decided to supply about 2 lakh saris. Unlike earlier, the quality of saris has been improved and we have decided to distribute 50 varieties of saris," said the MLA.Officials are planning to distribute about 2 lakh saris to women in the district
