Narayanpet: Farmers demand loan waiver in one go
Narayanpet: The farmers in Narayanpet district took to the streets and conducted rastarokos demanding the State government immediately waive the crop loans in one go and relive the farmers from debts. The protest was conducted with the support of Telangana Rythu Sangham in Narayanpet on Tuesday.
The farmers, who gathered from across various villages, near municipal park conducted a rastaroko at the crossroads and later, took out a rally towards the agriculture office raising slogans against the government. "The TRS government had promised to waive the farm loans in one go during elections and now it is going back on its promise and trying to waive the loans in 4-5 instalments. This will not benefit the farmers as the pending loans will accrue its interests," said a Rythu Sangham member, while taking part in the protest.
They alleged that the land record purification drive in Narayanpet has not yet been completed even after three years have passed and many farmers were facing a tough time as the revenue authorities have failed to issue new passbooks them. They alleged that because of the official apathy, they did not receive their passbooks and have been losing on benefits of Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima schemes.
