National Dengue Day observed in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr R Ram Mohan Rao appealed the people to keep their surroundings clean and tidy and not allow water to stagnate in their surroundings to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in the stagnated water, which may spread dangerous diseases like dengue, malaria and filariasis.

On National Dengue Day, District Medical and Health Department had organised a rally here on the day, which was inaugurated by DM&HO Dr R Ram Mohan Rao from DM&HO main office to the Collectorate covering bus stand and Prathima complex.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr R Ram Mohan Rao explained that due to the bite of Edis Mosquito the dengue fever will spread from one person to another. The people suffering with this disease shows symptoms like severe headache, high body temperature, rashes on the skin, pain in shoulder and knees and decrease of platelets.

It is everyone's responsibility to prevent the spread of this disease by taking certain precautionary beforehand. The people must check whether the water in the drainages present in front of their houses is flowing freely or not. If water remains stagnant, there will be possibility of increase of mosquito population, which are careers of dengue germs.

Not only drains, water must not get stagnated in open areas and surrounding of houses where the people live. The people must not allow water to remain in drums, coolers, used coconuts, old tyres and flowerpots for more days. The people must follow every Friday as dry day to inhibit the growth of mosquito population, he advised.

Malaria Officer Dr Ravi Singh, Dr Sudhakar Reddy, P Durga Rao, in-charge DM&HO Dr Mahender Reddy, Unit Officer M Ramanadham, Lingaiah, Malaria Supervisor T Anjaneya Goud, medical staff along with the staff of Urban Health Centre were present in the rally.
