Nayeemuddin Volleyball Tournament begins in Mahbubnagar
Mahbubnagar: The three-day Nayeemuddin Volleyball Tournament for Central government employees had begun at Zilla Parishad Grounds on Friday. Zilla Parishad chairperson Swarna Sudhakar Reddy along with Volleyball and Kabbadi Association president of erstwhile Mahbubnagar Bhandari Shanti Kumar inaugurated the national-level tournament.
The ZP chief welcomed the participating sportspersons from various Central government departments and whished them good luck. Speaking on the occasion, she said, "We are glad to host this national-level volleyball tournament in Mahbubnagar. I wish all of you best of luck and give your best to emerge victorious." The ZP chairman, later, met the participants.
Bhandari Shanti Kumar, while addressing the participants, recollected that he and Nayeemuddin were close friends and players who took part in national-level volleyball tournaments. "I am really glad and honoured to host a national-level tournament in memory of Nayeemuddin. I wish all the best to all the players and give your best to emerge winners. Sportspersons will help unite the nation and nurture the patriotic feeling among the citizens. Therefore, more and more youth must come and participate in the sports events and exhibit their excellence" said Shanti Kumar.
Stating that winning and losing were common in sports, he said the participants must take both in the positive note and should exhibit sporting spirit. He also expressed concern over many distancing themselves from sports due to addiction to smartphones and the social media. He said more and more youth must take part in sports and make their careers bright by exhibiting their talents at the national and international levels.
Overall, five teams had taken part in the Nayeemuddin Volleyball Tournament on the day 1. These teams include players from South Central Railways, EME Army, AOC Army, Central Excise and players from Income Tax departments. The tournament will be concluded on November 3.
