NCW chief inspects murder scene; sees cops negligence
Hyderabad: Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW) Shyamala S Kunder on Saturday inspected the spot where Priyanka Reddy was killed and enquired with the local people on the ghastly crime. She was accompanied by District Legal Services Authority advocate Deepika Reddy.
Speaking to the media, Shyamala felt that the crime was committed by the four accused in a pre-meditated manner. She stated that there was no compound wall to the open place near the toll gate where several lorries were parked, and lorry drivers were consuming liquor.
She also said when they interacted with the locals about the incident, the people told her that though they lodged complaints with the police about the anti-social activities in the area, the latter ignored their pleas for the reasons best known to them.
The NCW chairman said they were told that even when the Priyanka's parents pleaded with the police to register a case, the latter refused to do so saying that the scene of offence was not under their jurisdiction.
She also stated the visuals in the CCTV cameras were not clear due to the negligence of the police. Shyamala also felt that the frightened victim might not have got the idea to call 'Dial 100' for alerting the police.
