Update: 2019-06-14 02:53 IST

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti has decided to play a neutral role in the Lok Sabha but would make all-out efforts to see that the Centre implements all the assurances that were given in the AP State Re-organisation Act 2014.

The TRS Parliamentary Party, which met here on Thursday, discussed various issues that were pending before the Centre.

CM K Chandrashekar Rao made it clear to the members that they should fight for the rights of the state and raise the issues and demands in both the Houses of Parliament.

He told them that the Centre was yet to implement various promises made during the bifurcation of the state and hence the MPs should see that they were fulfilled.

The party president has directed them to take active part in the proceedings of Parliament and see that they put necessary pressure on the Centre to fulfil its promises.

Meanwhile, the party nominated TRS senior leader K Keshav Rao as the leader of the Parliamentary party. Since Keshav Rao is a Rajya Sabha member, Khammam Lok Sabha MP Nama Nageswar Rao has been nominated as the leader of the TRS parliamentary party in Lok Sabha.

It was also decided in the meeting to appoint one deputy leader and one whip each in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Zaheerabad MP BB Patil will be the TRS party whip in Lok Sabha and Medak MP K Prabhakar Reddy has been elected as Deputy floor leader in the Lok Sabha.

Banda Prakash Mudiraj was elected Deputy floor leader in the Rajya Sabha and J Santosh Kumar will be the TRS party whip in the Rajya Sabha. The details of election of parliamentary party leaders are forwarded to the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi through a letter by KCR.
