New COVID-19 strain: Karimnagar, Warangal in Telangana put on alert
New Coronavirus strain in Telangana: Districts like Karimnagar and Warangal have been put on alert in the view of the new strain of coronavirus that was detected in the UK. It was found that around 16 persons have arrived from Britain in erstwhile Karimnagar district in the last few days.
On December 17 and 18 alone, 10 persons arrived in Karimnagar town, four in Sultanabad of Peddapalli, one in Sircilla and one Mancherial. Of all the 16 persons who are currently in home-isolation, the samples of 12 persons have collected and sent for testing.
Officials said that four persons from Peddapalli arrived at Hyderabad airport from Britain and one of them have gone into the city and other three returned to their residence in Peddapalli. All the four who have undergone the tests at the airport have tested negative. The healthcare officials also conducted the tests on them two days ago and the same result was obtained.
Meanwhile, the officials handed over coronavirus kit to the three persons and advised to stay in home quarantine.
On the other hand, 45 persons have arrived from Britain to the erstwhile Warangal district. In the view of the new strain of the virus, the officials set up a 35-bed isolation ward at MGM hospital. The district health officials advised those who returned from the UK to go to the hospital for tests.
