Hyderabad: The government believes that the good governance is possible only through administrative reforms. Several existing laws are not enough to offer good governance and eliminate corruption.

This was the reason why the government enacted a New Panchayat Raj Act and a New Municipality Act and was in the process of coming up with new Revenue Act, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said while addressing people from the ramparts of Golconda Fort on the occasion of 73rd Independence Day celebrations.

KCR said archaic and obsolete Revenue laws that are in existence had inflicted immense damage to farmers and the people. "We have to undo these damages. The government is engaged in preparing a new revenue Act. Let me share good news with you that in the coming Budget session of the Assembly, the new Revenue Act will be introduced," he said.

"Along with the new Revenue Act that is in the pipeline, I am sure there will be clean, tidy villages and towns with lots of greenery. The new Revenue Act is being prepared to offer hassle-free services to people and farmers," he said.

He said, the proposed Revenue Act will give no room for corruption or laxity.

Explaining about the 60-Day Special Action Plan of the government to give a facelift and introduce the new approach in gram panchayats and municipalities, he said there should be a total change in the appearance of the villages and towns.

The government, the Chief Minister said, is preparing the plan to introduce a new approach and has decided to release funds from the Finance Commission grants before the commencement of the 60-day action programme to the local bodies.

The Chief Minister said the government wants to lay special emphasis on the doing away with health hazards through improving cleanliness in all villages and towns. The first phase of the programme is aimed at improving the sanitation in the villages and towns with the participation of people.

"We all know that cleanliness is next to godliness and god manifests only where there is cleanliness. After this programme, every village and town should be clean, have organised garbage removal and disposal methods. Unhygienic conditions affect the poor the most," he said.

On the economic front, the Chief Minister said Economic Development, the Chief Minister said prudent and practical fiscal policies of the state government over the past five years have resulted in the State's wealth which was about Rs 4 lakh crore at the time of formation of Telangana State, now stood at Rs 8.66 lakh crore, he said.

Further, he stated that Telangana would get an additional 575 tmc ft of Godavari water from 2020 June onwards. KCR highlighted his government's achievements and various initiatives, which according to him, led to the doubling of the state's wealth in the last five years.

He also elaborated on the irrigation projects like Kaleshwaram Palamur-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation project.
