Nirmal: 'Take special measures for forest restoration'
Nirmal: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Lokesh Jaiswal told the officials to take special interest to restore forests in the district. He reviewed a power point presentation on Forest Action Plan along with District Collector Musharraf Ali Farooqui and forest officials at a meeting at the district forest office here on Tuesday.
Jaiswal said that special measures should be taken for restoration of forests in the district and suggested to prepare a forest restoration progress report in coordination with forest and revenue departments. Beat, section-wise planting of trees in forest area, construction of check dams, fencing etc., are to be undertaken.
Forest development works are to be undertaken through the National Employment Guarantee Scheme, he added. Collector Musharraf Ali Farooqui said steps would be taken to develop forests in the district and also a progress report would be prepared in coordination with forest and revenue departments and forest restoration work would be undertaken.
Conservator of Forest Vinod Kumar, Additional Collector Hemanth Borkade, officials of forest department and others were present.
