NIT convocation today in Warangal

Warangal: The National Institute of Technology, Warangal, is to celebrate its XVII convocation on Saturday. Prof Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Director, Special Degree Programmes, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand, will be the chief guest. A total of 1,528 candidates will be awarded their degrees in the convocation. Of which, 76 are Ph D degrees, 555 are M Tech and other Post Graduate degrees, and 897 are B Tech degrees. Y Sahiti of Computer Science & Engineering branch will be given gold medal for this year.

NITW Director NV Ramana Rao said: "Prof Nitin Kumar Tripathi is a distinguished alumnus of NIT Warangal, having passed out of this institute, the then REC Warangal, during 1984 with a B Tech degree in Civil Engineering. Prof Tripathi is a highly accomplished internationally renowned academician and researcher and is presently the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Geoinformatics, one of the best peer reviewed journals. He has supervised 42 doctoral and more than 130 Master's theses at AIT."
