Niti Aayog team inspects irrigation projects in Nirmal
Nirmal: Niti Aayog sub-advisor N Kumarawell said that 85 per cent of water for irrigation, 6 per cent for household, 6 per cent for industries and 3 per cent of water is being used for other purposes in the joint district of Adilabad. He added that he will prepare a report on how to decrease water pressure, water capacity and water consumption.
He inspected field-level irrigation projects and their capacity in Nirmal district on Tuesday. Later addressing a press conference at the office of Superintendent Engineer Irrigation department here.
Kumarawell said that Niti Aayog team has been inspected the Central government's schemes in Komaram Bheem-Asifabad, Mancherial and Bellampalli in the joint Adilabad district and coal mines and irrigation projects. On Tuesday, the Aayog team had visited Kadem irrigation project and Sakera Check Dam under Nirmal district.
Irrigation Department Superintendent Engineer Srinivas said Niti Aayog team came here to review the construction works of the Central and State governments' irrigation projects sanctioned in 2016-2017. The team inspected irrigation projects and agricultural fields at field-level in the joint district. The SE said that six medium irrigation projects with an estimation cost of Rs 435 crores and Rs 123 crore were pending.
