Nizamabad: Collector M Ram Mohan Rao conducts an inquiry into food poisoning incident at tribal college

Nizamabad: Collector M Ram Mohan Rao has directed RDO Venkateshverlu to submit a full report on the incident of 63 students who fell sick due to food poisoning at the Tribal Welfare Gurukul Degree College for Women in the district.

The Collector met with the district officials of the Welfare departments and ordered that HWOs should provide nutritious and clean meals to students residing in hostels.

The Collector conducted a review meeting in his chamber with the concerned authorities on the food poisoning incident at the College. Rao warned the officials of action if negligence were reported again.

The Collector enquired how the incident took place. Ram Mohan asked for details on the food provided to the students on Saturday night. He also asked about the details of the agencies providing eggs, vegetables, meat and drinking water to the hostel.

The Collector instructed the gazetted food inspector to take samples of the quality of food consumed by the students and test for contamination.

The Regional Coordinator has been ordered to perform drainage repairs.

Ram Mohan Rao instructed the wardens to do all the necessary preventive measures and medical check-ups so that children do not get sick. Collector Rao ordered the HWOs not to neglect the duty and provide quality meals in the hostels and monitor them regularly. The meeting was attended by District Tribal Welfare Officer Sandhyarani, RCO Satyanarayana and Gazetted Food Inspector Nayak.
