Containment Zones in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Ever since the lockdown is lifted, the number of containment zones has decreased gradually in Hyderabad. Despite the rise in the coronavirus cases in the GHMC limits, there are no containment zones found in the city. In May, several areas beyond one kilo-metre used to be under containment zone.

Earlier, when a person is found to be infected with the coronavirus, the entire area used to be placed under the containment zone. At present, if a person emerges coronavirus positive, only his house is being sealed.

At present, there are only containment houses as the coronavirus asymptomatic patients are under quarantine at home. As a part of unlock 1.0, no restrictions have been imposed on the movement of the public which resulted in the rise in the cases. The containment zones are only possible if more number of cases emerge from a particular area. Currently, there are around 3,000 people in home quarantine from various places in Hyderabad.

One of the reasons for the increase in the cases is due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 tests in Telangana.

In Karnataka, the government declared the entire floor where the patient resides as a containment area. While in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, a containment zone is formed only where a cluster emerges coronavirus positive.
