Hyderabad: Government employees working in the State capital, who mostly use the State transport buses to reach the Secretariat or offices located in various parts of the city, travelled on their own vehicles on Saturday in view of the RTC staff strike.

While a majority staff commuted on two-wheelers, some others reached offices in autos and cabs.

A government employee said the strike impact on government offices in the city was not felt much as some employees availed leave for Dasara festival falling on Tuesday.

With Bathukamma festivities reaching the final stages, women staff attendance was thin in government offices. And those who attended banked on private transport to reach the place of work.

It may be mentioned here that it is the women staff, who mostly travel in the TSRTC buses everyday to commute two and fro from their residence to office.

If RTC buses stay off the road even after Dasara, then the impact could be felt. Government staff would be back to resuming full duties from Wednesday onwards and they would face inconvenience if strike still continues, an employee said.

Meanwhile, in view of the strike, autos were in full demand in the entire city. Private employees and others boarded autos to reach their destinations.
