In a major administrative reform, the Telangana government abolished Joint Collector posts in the district Collectorates and introduced Additional Collectors posts.

The state government on Sunday night formally transferred 49 officials in the rank of Sub Collectors and Special Officers in the districts including 8 Junior IAS officers who are working in different districts.

IAS officer Rahul Sharma of 2017 batch who is working as Special Officer to Rajanna Siricilla district has been transferred and posted as Additional Collector to Local Bodies in Nalgonda district.

It is learned that the additional collectors will play a key role in the functioning of local bodies which were lying neglect due to various reasons.

From now, a district consists of a collector and two additional collectors. Of the two additional collectors, one is specially deployed to govern the local bodies. The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also planned to hold a meeting with all the collectors on February 11.
