No threat of Leopard in Hyderabad, officials tell public
Hyderabad: People no need to fear about Leopard as no threat is reported from the animal, officials said. However, the people cautioned against moving in the night. The officials also said that no untoward incident will take place as COVID-19 curfew is still in place.
The Leopard which was spotted at Katedan is wandering at Rajendranagar premises. The officials are tracking the animal movements which was last seen around 11 pm on Monday near a compound wall.
Bheem Naik, divisional forest officer, Rangareddy district said that they are have set up around 20 cameras and also hoped that it would eventually move into the forest area. "The Leopard usually enters into the residential areas near the forest in the nights in search of food. And then returns to the forest before the sunrise. However, if the animal could not move back to the forest before the sunrise it gets stuck at one place and people should allow the animal to return to its natural habitat without getting scared," the officials said.
In Telangana, the Leopard is seen in Nallamala, Kawal tiger reserve in erstwhile Adilabad district, Kinnersani, Pakala, Eturunagaram reserve forest areas. Rajendranagar and Shamshabad are the places where once these animals made their shelter. The animal is found at forest areas at Himayatsagar, Golconda and Rachakonda hills.
