Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday said the State government has not received any instructions from the Centre on the implementation of National Registry of Citizens (NRC).

The Chief Minister was replying to MIM member Mohammad Moazam Khan, who asked whether the Centre gave any instructions on implementation of NRC. Khan demanded that the Chief Minister give clarity on the Centre's proposal to implement the National Registry of Citizens in Telangana.

The Chief Minister said that the State did not receive any instructions. "There is no need to worry, government will safeguard honest citizens. Let's talk on this when orders are issued. We will constitute Waqf Board soon and also the Metro Rail.

There was opposition in the beginning but now the problem has gone, and the works will start soon," the Chief Minister said. On the 12 per cent reservation, the Chief Minister said that the Centre needs to take a decision and added that if needed the State would pass another resolution.

He said that there was a concern that the Centre has proposed for NRC and detention centres in Telangana. "The Centre seems to have ordered government to take up house to house field work for enumeration.

The minorities and people from other States are worried over the Centre's proposed move, the Chief Minister should give a clarity on whether Centre gave any instruction on NRC," Moazam Khan asked.

Earlier, TRS member A Ramesh said that no scheme was curtailed or stopped in the State even after economic slowdown. He said Telangana State gives Rs 2.7 lakh crore to the Centre in the form of taxes, but it gets Rs 32,000 crore in return.

"When it comes to paying taxes, we are part of India but when it comes to getting funds from the Centre we are treated as if we are not part of the country," said Ramesh.

Another TRS MLA KP Vivekanand said all sectors got benefitted during the last five years and the awards were testimony to the functioning of the government.
