Not leopard, but wild cat: officials

After rumours triggered over the leopard spotted on the hills at Pragati Nagar, the forest department officials launched a hunt to capture the animal. But the officials confirmed it as a 'wild cat' after examining the footprints and the pictures.

On Wednesday morning, residents of Pragati Nagar, Mithila Nagar, Devendar Nagar, Lalsabguda and Balaiah Nagar stayed indoors scared of the leopard wandering around the area.

On the other hand, the forest officials denied the rumours of the leopard entering Geetanjali school at Mithila Nagar. They took the school watchman and driver into custody for allegedly making the sounds inside the school and scared the people of the leopard roar.
