NZ mosque shooting: City lad Farhaj Ahsan dead

Hyderabad: Farhaj Ahsan, a Hyderabadi who went missing after the attack on mosque in Christchurch, succumbed to injuries he sustained in the shootout, according to his family sources.On Friday, New Zealand witnessed a dark day as at least 49 people were killed after gunmen opened fire at two mosques in Christchurch while the Muslims were offering prayers.

On Islam's holy day, a gunman attacked Al Noor mosque in central Christchurch. Farhaj Ahsan, one of the victims of the Christchurch terror attack and hails from Tolichowki in Hyderabad, had migrated to New Zealand was staying along with his wife and two children. He had gone for prayers at the Al Noor mosque in Christchurch area when an armed gunman attacked the mosque. Ahsan was reported missing.

He later succumbed to his injuries. On Saturday, Ahsan's family confirmed the death. Ahsan's father Mohammed Sayeeduddin told the media that his son went to New Zealand to pursue his MS in 2010 and has later undertaken a software job. He said he tried to contact Farhaj after the shootings, but in vain.
