Vikarabad: Objections to statue of Ambedkar flayed

Vikarabad: State secretary to the All India Ambedkar Youth Union Kattela Mallesham said on Tuesday that it was not fair to interrupt the installation of the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. The leaders of the union visited the village on Tuesday after some people objected to the installation of the statue in the Veerareddypalli in Tandur mandal. They held discussions with the Karankot CI Jalandhar Reddy.

Speaking at a press conference, Mallesham said, "The villagers in Veerareddypalli decided to designate a place for the Ambedkar statue, but some have questioned the arrangements.'' He rued that despite a number of laws, the oppression of Dalits was still going on. He urged the authorities to continue the work of the statue and take steps to ensure that the statue was erected there. He warned that insulting Ambedkar would not be tolerated. State assistant secretary of the All India Ambedkar Youth Union Begari Raju, Rangareddy District Legal Advisor Kumar, and Narender were present.
