Officials swing into action, disconnect old meter

Zaheerabad: Officials at last responded to the irregularity that had been committed by a contractor in the construction of Community Hospital building at Kohir. They immediately disconnected the meter.

Speaking about the incident, DE Avadhutha Jayaramulu said they resume the power only after sanctioning of the new meter. The officials levied a fine of Rs 23, 000 on the contractor for violating the rules. The contractor also paid Rs 60, 000 for new meter for commercial purpose.

It is to be recollected that a callous contractor had been using an old meter instead of commercial one in the construction of community hospital building. The contractor was already levied a fine of Rs 10, 000 earlier. But he neither paid the fine nor corrected his mistake. The officials of the electricity department took action against the contractor after a news item published in The Hans India.
