OMG, Telangana government employees to get half salaries for May also

Hyderabad: With no significant rise in the revenues even after some relaxations are given in the lockdown period, Telangana Government has decided to pay half salaries only to all government employees ( except doctors and police) for the month May also. As announced earlier, people representatives – CM, ministers, MLAs and MLCs will get 25 per cent and the All India services officials – IAS, IPS and IFS officials will be paid 40 per cent of their total salary. The Outsourcing and contract employees will get 10 per cent cut in their salaries.

The government also decided not to extend Rs 1500 relief amount to each white ration cardholders in the high-level meeting conducted by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao with state Finance department officials here on Wednesday. However, 12 kg rice to each poor will be distributed for another month.

The CM reviewed the revenues generated after opening of identified business establishments like automobiles, liquor sales, land registrations and transportation. The finance officials informed that the state could earn only Rs 3,100 crore including Rs 982 crore central devolution till this day. In the current fund scarce, government would not afford to pay full salaries to the employees and hence decided to pay half only for third consecutive month ever since the enforcement of lockdown in the state. before lockdown, the government earned Rs 12,000 crore every month.

The official said that it required Rs 37,400 crore to pay the debts and interests every year and. Since the centre did not give any relief of moratorium on the payment of debts to the financial institutions by the states, the chief minister said that the financial burden will continue to mount on the state until the centre provide some relief. The enhancement of FRMB limit from 3 per cent to 5 per cent with pre conditions will also not help in a big way to the state.
