One hurt in sloth bear attack in Bhupalpally

Bhupalpally: A 70-year-old person was grievously injured when a sloth bear attacked him near Nagaram village under Jayashankar-Bhupalpally district on Monday. The injured was identified as Saheb.

According to MJ Akbar, the Chief Conservator of Forests, Warangal Circle, the bear entered the village from a nearby forest in the early hours of the day and attacked a herd of cattle. The sloth bear attacked Saheb when the residents tried to scare it. Sahib sustained head injury in the attack. Later, it escaped into the nearby forest after the locals attacked it with sticks.

"The victim was admitted to a private hospital in Warangal. He underwent a surgery after the doctors identified skull bone fracture," Akbar said.

The forest officials gave Rs 10,000 to the wife of the injured person to meet immediate medical expenses. They said further financial support will also be provided to the family.
