One more BJP worker attacked by TRS activists
Nagarkurnool: Continuing the violent attacks on their rivals, the activists of Telangana Rashtra Samithi in erstwhile Mahbubnagar have attacked a BJP MPTC contestant from Mahadevunipeta village of Bijinepally mandal in Nagarkurnool district on Thursday.
According to sources, the BJP candidate, Varalaxmi, who had contested against the TRS candidate from Mahadevunipeta village, had lost in the recently-concluded MPTC elections. However, earlier it is said that during election campaigning, the BJP and TRS activists had some altercation in the village while campaigning.
Now after the results were declared and the TRS party candidate won over the BJP and they were all conducting victory celebrations, the earlier brawl issue between the two contesting candidates and their activists once again erupted and it went out of control. Both the BJP and TRS activists clashed in the village causing injuries to Varalaxmi. However, she was immediately rushed to the hospital and is undergoing treatment. "Soon after learning about the incident, we have deployed the police force in the village brought the situation under control. We have already registered a case and will take action against those who have been causing disturbance to peace in the village," said Bijinepally Police.
After learning about the attacks on the BJP party members, Dr Laxman, BJP state president immediately visited the injured her. Speaking to media, Dr Laxman accused K Chandrashekar Rao's government of encouraging faction politics. He said never in the history of Mahbubnagar such a kind of politics was witnessed as being done in under TRS leadership. The people are observing TRS activities and will soon teach them a lesson if they do not mend their ways.
The BJP party members from Nagarkurnool protested the attack by TRS activists on BJP workers and took out a rally and demanded the government to immediately take action against the culprits or else they would intensify the protest.
It can be recalled that one BJP activist from Devarkadra was murdered by a TRS activist on Tuesday night. with this incident of attack on a BJP MPTC contestant, it looks like the TRS party activists are adopting aggressive attitude towards their rivals and creating a fearful environment in the district. The political analysts and people in the district are of the view that the State government should intervene at the earliest and reprimand its activists before it is too late. Or else, it will give wrong message to the public about TRS party and its government.
Meanwhile, the Mahbubnagar police on Thursday took six persons into custody with regard to murder of BJP worker Prem Kumar. Further investigation is underway.
