Opposition unites in slamming TRS in Hanamkonda
Hanamkonda: Continuing their tirade against the TRS government's decision to raze heritage structures and build new ones, the leaders of Congress, BJP, Telugu Desam, CPI, MRPS and other civil societies have decided to launch relay hunger strike from July 15.
The Opposition leaders, who visited the old collectorate premises in Subedari where the construction of integrated collectorate complex is coming up, criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao accusing him of wasting public money.
Warangal DCC president Naini Rajender Reddy said: "In the name of taking administration to the doorsteps of people, KCR sliced Warangal into six pieces without any conviction. With no proper facilities, the officials have to function from makeshift offices. As a result, people have been facing hardships even to find government offices." The split of districts also affected employees, he added.
It might have taken just a few minutes for the Cabinet to demolish the heritage structures in Hyderabad, but KCR must know that it takes years to construct a building, Reddy said.
Why not the TRS chief, who passed a dictum to complete the construction of TRS party offices within six months in all district headquarters, has commitment to construct the buildings for government offices wherever they required, he questioned.
He said that KCR is more interested in razing old structures and building new ones instead of addressing the problems faced by the people. Despite ideological differences, all the political parties have decided to come under a common platform to oppose the TRS government's anti-people policies, he said.
TDP Warangal district president E Mallesham said that KCR wants to show his mark by constructing new buildings in place of existing structures. Even though these structures good enough to carry administration, KCR wants them to be razed, he said.
BJP State executive member Rao Amarender Reddy said that even though the people have achieved separate Telangana, they continue to face problems. The TRS diluted the very concept of neellu (water), nidhulu (funds) and niyamakalu (jobs) after came to power in 2014, he said.
CPI Warangal Urban district secretary Mekala Ravi advised KCR to focus on issues faced by the farmers and downtrodden instead of wasting people's money. "KCR is behaving like a dictator," he said. BC Sankshema Sangham leader M Janardhan accused the TRS government of taking unilateral decisions.
MRPS leader Manda Kumar criticised KCR for not fulfilling his promises - three acres land to dalits, double bedroom houses and KG to PG free education etc.
Later, the leaders visited RTC's tyre retreading unit near Hunter road. The leaders demanded the government to restore the tyre retreading unit on the same premises. It may be mentioned here that the government relocated the tyre retreading unit to Karimnagar.
"The shifting of tyre retreading unit to Karimnagar was aimed at benefitting an aide of TRS leaders. Even though the workers opposed the shifting, the government relocated it to Karimnagar," the leaders alleged. After shifting the unit, the TRS government gave the prime land on 29 years lease to its benami, they alleged.
Greater Warangal committee president Katla Srinivas Rao, TPCC secretary E V Srinivas Rao, senior leaders K Srinivas, Meesala Prakash and TDP State secretary Pulluru Ashok Kumar were among others present.
