Hyderabad: Leader of Congress in Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday demanded that the government hold an inquiry into the murder of Mandal Revenue Officer Vijaya Reddy as land disputes was the suspected reason behind the incident and also alleged involvement of ruling party leader.

Addressing the media, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should come out of his farmhouse and take stock of the situation in the State. He said that inquiry into the murder of MRO should be done through a sitting judge or through the CBI.

He said that in the past two years land records of nine lakh farmers have been kept in Part – B. No action has been taken to solve the disputes involved in them. These lands were being owned by middle class and lower-class people.

Most of these lands belong to sada bynamas, endowment, and inam categories. He said that incidents like murder of MRO have been taking place as the disputes in those lands were not solved. He alleged that in the MRO murder case names of leaders from TRS have been coming out. Unless an independent inquiry is done facts would not come out.

He said that cleansing of land records has been leading to bizarre incidents. Vikramarka condoled the death of MRO and her driver. An incident where an officer has been burnt alive in the government office was first of its kind in the country, he said.
