OU assistant professor arrested for alleged Maoist links
An assistant professor of PG college in Osmania University has been arrested by the Gadwal police on Thursday for his alleged links with Maoists. He was taken into custody from his residence at Tarnaka. The police also seized a laptop, electronic gadgets and other documents.
The Telangana Intelligence Department's anti-naxal special intelligence bureau has helped the Gadwal police in detaining the professor Dr K Jagan. The police said that he was arrested in connection with a case registered against him last week.
Earlier in the week, two members of Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV) has been arrested for trying to recruit cadre for the Maoist party.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Praja Front president K Ravi Chander condemned Jagan's arrest and said the police has carried out searches at Jagan's residence without any warrant and has arrested him without informing his family members.
