Paddy procurement continues sans hurdles

Kothagudem: Joint Collector K Venkateswarlu directed the officials concerned to see to it that farmers who come to sell their produce at the paddy procurement centres face no troubles.

The Joint Collector on Friday, conducted a review meeting with the officials of Civil Supplies, Marketing and Co-operative in his chambers.

During the meeting, he ordered the officials to buy paddy containing 17 per cent moisture from the farmers. He asked the details of procurement centres in around the district from the Civil Supplies officers.

The Civil Supplies officer Laxman on the occasion gave the details of procurement centres in the district.

The Joint Collector informed that they have set up 69 paddy centres, of that 36 were operating under the co-operative department, 22 under the IKPO department, and another 11 centres under Girijana Corporation Centre (GCC). He informed that 1,500 tonnes of paddy was purchased from the farmers so far.

Civil Supplies department manager Prasad, marketing officer Narender, GCC manager M Vani, co-operative officers and deputy Tahsildars attended the meeting.
