Pargi: Demand to close polluting company

Update: 2019-12-13 02:29 IST

Pargi: CPM submitted a memorandum to Deputy Tahsildar Rajesh on Thursday seeking shutdown of Pavan Plywood Company on the outskirts of Madhavaram. They said the effluents released from the company are creating soil and air pollutions.

CPM district committee member M Venkataiah said the company which started 10 years ago had been releasing effluents into farms. "There are instances when farmers opposed this. Later, the company dug a pit near farms and started releasing the factory waste. Animals are falling prey to this by drinking the waste water. Labor officials are turning a deaf ear to the problem," he added.

The party leaders and activists demanded compensation to farmers and threatened to stage protest if their demand isn't met. Ravi, Habib, Chandraiah, Narasimhulu, Praveen and others were present.
