Parishad polls conclude

Warangal: Finally, its curtains for the Parishad polls with polling for the third and last leg of zilla parishad territorial constituencies (ZPTCs) and mandal parishad territorial constituencies (MPTCs) ended on a peaceful note in the erstwhile Warangal district on Tuesday. In all, polling for 19 ZPTC seats and

235 MPTC seats spread across 19 mandals was held. While 109 candidates were in the race for ZPTCs, 834 were in the fray for the MPTCs.

The voter turnout in five mandals of Warangal Rural district was 81.73 per cent. The mandal-wise break up: Chennaraopet 80.51 per cent; Nekkonda 77.21 per cent; Atmakur 85.55 per cent; Damera 84.19 per cent; Geesukonda 84.90 per cent. Of the total 1,47,518 voters, 1,20,566 had exercised their franchise.

In Chityal, Tekumatla and Mogullapally, the three mandals of Jayashankar-Bhupalpally district, where polling was held for three ZPTCs and 30 MPTCs, the voter turnout was 70.19 per cent. Mandal-wise break up: Chityal 66.72 per cent; Tekumatla 72.76 per cent; Mogullapally 71.73 per cent.

Of the total 79,717 voters, 55,956 had exercised their franchise.

The voter turnout in Ragunathpally, Chilpur, Station Ghanpur and Zaffergadh mandals of Jangaon district was 76.25 per cent. Mandal-wise break up: Raghunathpally 76.17 per cent; Chilpur 77.62 per cent; Station Ghanpur 74.58 per cent; Zaffergadh 77.21 per cent. Of the total 1,44,579 voters, 1,10,238 have turned to polling stations.

Mahabubabad, Kesamudram, Nellikuduru and Gudur, the four mandals of Mahabubabad district, where polling was held for four ZPTCs and 67 MPTCs, the voter turnout was 79.56 per cent.

Elsewhere in Mulugu district, where polling was held for three ZPTCs and 36 MPTCs in Mulugu, Govindraopet and Venkatapur (Ramappa) mandals, the voter turnout was 72.31 per cent. Mandal-wise break up: Mulugu71.68, Govindaraopet 71.80 and Venkatapur (Ramappa) 73.88. Of the total 98,494 voters, 71,218 have turned to polling stations.
