Parties chalk out plans to sweep MPTC, ZPTC polls
Vikarabad: The zilla parishad officials have planned to conduct elections for the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) members and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) members. In the first phase, elections in Bantwaram and Kotipalli in Tandur division of Vikarabad constituency are planned to take place.
In the second phase, mandals in Vikarabad division will have elections. All the arrangements like reservation, polling stations, voters, polling officers have been made for the elections. On April 17, the ROs and AROs will conduct training on electoral management. Top officials will conduct a review on the elections.
The ruling party is particular about dominating the results in the territorial constituencies. It aims to form councils in as many parishads as possible. TRS MLAs have won in the assembly constituencies in Vikarabad, Parigi and Kodangal constituencies, except for Tandur, in the district.
The TRS is contemplating to give priority to those who have worked effectively in the successive elections and strengthened the party. It is also learnt that tickets would be given to the candidates who have been continuing in the party from the beginning.
The tickets may not be given to the candidates who joined later, after TRS came to power. Party Executive President K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) already directed the leaders on how to proceed in the local elections. The Congress is trying to maintain its hold on the ZPTC and the MPTC elections.
In the last four times, the majority of MPTC and ZPTC seats were won by the party, though the TDP MLA was in power. The Congress has a stronghold at grassroots level. So, the party has eyed on majority positions.
The responsibility to select candidates for ZPTC and MPTC seats will be handed over to Block and Mandal Congress chairpersons. Plans are underway to prepare the lists of candidates by April 20.
The BJP is also trying to woo the candidates who had been denied tickets by the Congress and TRS parties. The decision to select the candidates will be handed over to the mandal and booth level committees.
BJP believes that people are supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and that is why Chevella LS contestant got more votes. The party is chalking out plans to face the Congress and the TRS.
People who worked hard in Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are pressurising the parties to allocate tickets to them. This situation is clearly evident in Congress and TRS parties.
